Google News To Me

So my new favorite thing is the Google personalized home page. I was tinkering with adding some of the news to my home page, and thought: Wouldn't it be cool if I could get up to date Bozeman news or since I am in the footwear business, it would be neat to see all news about shoes. Needless to say there is a way in Google to do that.

1. Go to google.com/news
2. Type in your search terms: I typed in Bozeman, MT but it works for pretty much any subject or area that you are interested in and hit enter. You should now have a number of items that pop up from Google news about your subject.
3. Copy the URL: http://www.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=Bozeman%2C+MT&btnG=Search+News
4. Go to your Personalized Google home page (You need a google account) and click on "add stuff"
5. There are a number of things that you can add to your home page, but by far the most interesting is near the very top next to "search homepage content button" where it says "Add by URL" Click on it and paste your url in there.
6. Hit enter and then Return to your homepage. You should see you news search topic on your Google home page.

I should note that this also works for site feeds of your favorite blog among other web sites that you can add.
